My name is Richard Price. Yes, I'm a real estate broker. I also run an investment company. But I'm a human, first. In that picture to the left are my wife, Julia, and my kids: Jack, Sam, Walt, Lily, and Lu. The border collie's name is Easy, and we're all standing in the front yard of a 150-year-old house that we're living in while we restore it. Many fathers want to teach their kids about what integrity looks like. So do I. But, more importantly, every day, I want to demonstrate it.
Back in 2008, I found myself in big financial trouble. I was a new real estate agent with a new baby and a new house I'd bought at the peak of the market. When the housing bubble burst, my entire world began to crumble, and I remember going almost a whole year while earning less than $2,000. Like a lot of hard-working folks, the house I'd bought two years earlier was suddenly worth much less than I'd paid, and I was struggling to keep up with the payments. After running through my savings, I shuffled money around on credit cards, robbed Peter to pay Paul, and sold about everything I owned of any value. As was the case for many American families at that time, foreclosure loomed.
I was desperate to escape hardship, and I wanted to help other people in a similar situation. During this time, I learned that, above nearly all else, what people needed was someone who could buy their house right now. Although today's reasons are different from during the Great Recession, good folks can still find themselves owning a home they need to sell fast. I never intended to be doing what my company does now, but people kept seeking us out. Today, I'm grateful and honored to be able to help the families we do.
